“BEACON” is a kinetic installation inspired by the unseen signals between nature and humans. The installation consists of a revolving network of branches illuminated by beams of green lasers. The intricate network of branches were harvested from the forests of Bukit Nanas, an urban green lung. It is home to the Telekom Museum, the telecommunication archive of Malaysia, which houses “BEACON.” Lasers - concentrated light fundamental to terrestrial and outer space communication are presented in this performative installation as a source of illumination.

flica, the Malaysian electro-acoustic musician curated an immersive soundscape, transporting “BEACON” back into nature. It creates an ever-changing conversation between biological and man-made transmitters in a historical setting, while oscillating between light and darkness.
